ICHF doctor locates in Nicaragua

Dr. Ann FentonIn December 2006, the ICHF hired Dr. Kathleen Fenton, an American trained pediatric cardiac surgeon, to work at La Mascota Hospital in Managua, Nicaragua for a period of at least two years.  Dr. Fenton assists in the education of the local medical team and serve as a clinical surgeon.  Dr. Fenton is in country for a minimum of 44 weeks per year.  She also attends conferences and seminars periodically.

ICHF medical teams will continue mission trips to Nicaragua twice per year to assist with surgeries of children with particularly complex heart defects. Since Dr. Fenton moved to Managua,  41 children have completed surgery.

 

Dr. Fenton received her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed her fellowship in pediatric cardiac surgery at the University of Pittsburgh and Children's Hospital.
