Held May 10th at the site provided by the Askew Nixon Ferguson Architects, the evening was alive with Caribbean food by Robert Hayes, margaritas and mojitos by Bacardi, Latin music by the Los Cantadores band, and Dominican cigars by ProCigar. Los Cantadores bandMore than 200 guests danced to the Latin beat surrounded by twinkling palm trees, native spiked carnival masks, and Bacardi ice sculptures.  Many dodged the rain to smoke their cigars on the spacious porch attached to the building. Cigar girls, bartenders, and servers in colored cocktail dresses assisted guests.

Volunteers danceVolunteers from Hispanic Student Association, a University of Memphis organization, joined ICHF's normal cadre of volunteers and staff in preparing for, running, and cleaning up after the party. ICHF is grateful to everyone who helped make the party a raging success.

ICHF offered a premium VIP Guest level this year. These VIP guests received a box of 12 premium cigars produced by ProCigar association company members and Bacardi rum samples.

The silent/raffle ticket auction sent lucky guests home with golf bags, spa retreats, dinners, Dominican masks, banana trees, and much more. The highlight of the evening was the live auction for a trip for two to the Hodelpa Gran Amirante Hotel and Casino in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Over $15,000 was raised by these auctions and ticket sales.

In addition to ProCigar and Bacardi Dominicana, the party sponsors included: Askew Nixon Ferguson Architects, Memphis Dermatology Clinic, Pinnacle Airlines, Hicks Convention Services and Larry Rice, Attorney.

An unexpected guest, a Memphis famous spring thunderstorm, did not dampen the fun of the evening. People continued to dance and smoke their cigars well after the party was over! It was a fun and engaging evening at the annual Taste of Caribe benefiting the International Children's Heart Foundation.

Here a few of our guests this year. Let's see you there next year!
